My name is Nomhle and I work in the Outreach Department of The Mesothelioma Center. Wildfires pose a threat for many obvious reasons, but one overlooked potential threat is asbestos exposure. Asbestos is a mineral that was once used extensively in home construction due to its fire-resistance until it was discovered that it causes mesothelioma cancer. Asbestos, and other cancer causing minerals, can be released into the air when structures catch fire and begin to burn. stumps left in lot

In short, stopped by Public Works asking if we knew how the stumps got dumped in the open lot at the end of Hallmark. Told it was an illegal dump then told that since we knew how the logs got there it was the homeowners responsibility to remover them. Several emails with Public Works went nowhere. Yesterday they told us that Parks told the homeowner to leave the stumps in the lot by Daniel. Maybe Tom could meet us at the lot since we are neighbors and we can discuss what can be done to remove these stumps. They look awful and serve no purpose at all. Plus it has increased activity to this lost with people littering more than usual.
