Re: Membership and Curbside Painting
Hello BHCIA, I just signed up and paid for the 2025 Membership, having thought that this amount included the $15 membership and $10 curbside painting. I now just realized that in order to have the curbside painting job done in this mid-November, I should have signed up for the 2024 Membership. Can someone call me at 650-591-9511 to help me resolve this issue? Greatly appreciated. Jessica Wong

Hi there, This is Jacob Bryant and I came across the helpful information you shared on the Belmont Heights Civic Improvement Association website and was wondering if you were open to adding new resources to your Wildfire Preparedness page. When a natural disaster damages a home, it can disrupt asbestos that is present and harm whoever is near it. This is why we made a guide about how different natural disasters can affect your home's asbestos presence and the steps you should take if you suspect asbestos in your home. Check it out: Asbestos Exposure Guide - lanierlawfirm.com/mesothelioma/asbestos-exposure/homeowners/ A ton of work was put into it. If you think this guide could be helpful for your readers, would you consider sharing a link to this somewhere on your page? I'm sure you get a lot of requests like this, but I think it may be worth a look. If you do not want to receive anymore emails from me, please reply letting me know you're not interested. Thank you so much for your time. Have a great day, Jake Jacob Bryant PR Consultant e: a: jake@lanierlaw-pr.com Lanier Law Firm, 10940 W. Good morning, I am looking for my multi-racial family, whose name is Weeks. I am not sure of the spelling of Weeks because there are many. I am told my Grandmother, Cora Weeks, was Native American and had two daughters and four sons, but later on, married a man whose last name was Alexander. I hope some still live in the Belmont, North Carolina Area. My Dad went to school at Reed High School, which I am told was demolished. Do any of those old records exist today somewhere? My Dad's Mom, Mary Weeks, was born and raised in the county of Belmont; after having two children by a white man, she married Agustus Hand from Belmont. My Dad was named Horace Weeks, and after my Grandma Mary Weeks married Hand, the boys took on his name of Hand. I have no idea what my grandmother's brother's names were. Are there any Weeks in your organization I can speak to? I am Joyce Marie Hand. I live in Greensboro, NC, and my phone number is 336-455-5824. My Dad was born in 1925, I believe. He crossed over in 2014. My Aunt Willie Bell Weeks had children and lived in Belmont. She was married, but I don't remember her married name. She, too, has crossed over. Can you help? Thank you for any information. Sincerely, Joyce

Article pitch -- will you please take a look?
Hello, I was wondering if I could write an article for your website about an unusual way to pay for college -- by flipping houses! A couple of my friends have done it, and I thought it was such an interesting option that it might be worth exploring in case others want to pursue it. If you think your readers would be interested in learning more about how to pay for college by flipping houses, I would be happy to write an article on the topic for your website. Let me know if you're interested in publishing this piece as a guest post. Sincerely, Manny Seymour https://allisdwell.com/ P.S. If, by any chance, you’d prefer an article on a different topic, please send over your suggestions. However, if you'd prefer not to receive emails from me, please let me know!

Hi I live on Comstock Circle between St. James and Waltham Cross. There's a strip of land behind our houses on this block that appears to be an easement but the city says it belongs to the residents of Wemberly Drive. They state that the space in question is their responsibility to maintain. Unfortunately, the strip of land is wildly overgrown with bushes, trees and dead leaves. It presents a fire hazard since it connects with the open space at the top of the block. In addition, with the increased rains the last few years, we're seeing more mice, rats and rattlesnakes in our yard. In the last couple months i've had to remove two rattlesnakes and a very nasty gopher snake from my garage. I've lived in Belmont my whole life that thats more snakes than i've seen in my whole lifetime. This unmaintaned land represents a fire risk and now a pest hazard. Our yards are very well kept to keep down the fire and pest risk but we can only do so much when it's bordered by unmaintained land. Is there any way to address this? I'd hate to get the city involved since that makes everything a lot harder. Thanks!

The current reservation system for Hallmark Park tennis courts instituted during covid needs to be abolished. Certain individuals are using bots to reserve all prime times every week making the courts unavailable to local residents and many times they don't show up. This is not how a neighborhood park should work. Residents should have the ability to spontaneously go to the park on a first come first serve basis. Also most of the people taking advantage of the current system are not from our community.

Good day, I hope you're doing well. I'm reaching out to ask if you would be open to sharing a new wildfire safety resource to your page, https://www.bhcia.org/wildfire? My name is Nomhle and I work in the Outreach Department of The Mesothelioma Center. Wildfires pose a threat for many obvious reasons, but one overlooked potential threat is asbestos exposure. Asbestos is a mineral that was once used extensively in home construction due to its fire-resistance until it was discovered that it causes mesothelioma cancer. Asbestos, and other cancer causing minerals, can be released into the air when structures catch fire and begin to burn. We've put together great guides on what to know about asbestos during wildfires and other natural disasters. Please take a look: https://www.asbestos.com/asbestos/natural-disasters/ https://www.asbestos.com/mesothelioma/causes/ I believe our resource offers some unique, but important information. Would you consider adding it to your page to better inform your community? Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response. Sincerely,

stumps left in lot
In short, stopped by Public Works asking if we knew how the stumps got dumped in the open lot at the end of Hallmark. Told it was an illegal dump then told that since we knew how the logs got there it was the homeowners responsibility to remover them. Several emails with Public Works went nowhere. Yesterday they told us that Parks told the homeowner to leave the stumps in the lot by Daniel. Maybe Tom could meet us at the lot since we are neighbors and we can discuss what can be done to remove these stumps. They look awful and serve no purpose at all. Plus it has increased activity to this lost with people littering more than usual.

Fire sprinkler check
Hi, I live in San Carlos and have a residential fire sprinkler system. I'm not sure if it's a wet or dry system - I tried to tell from the pipes but they look/feel empty. I can shut off the water supply to the house but the fire sprinkler will still flow and turn on the alarm so I think it's a separate water supply line from the street. The contractor who installed it was called JFK fire protection but I'm not sure they're in business anymore and their numbers don't work. Is there anyone who can come by to take a look? Thanks, Brian

Keep the Crystal Springs cross country course open to all and for all meets. Who on BHCIA decided to limit the meets? Both pf our children participated in meets (regional, local) over the years. Those of us impacted occasionally can handle this. I have lived here for over 30 years and wish someone had asked before taking such a position. I understand you are taking the stance that limits the numbers of meets. Survey the membership please and reverse your position!!! I am happy to come to an emergency meeting of the BHCIA to address this. We gets cars parked on our street during meets and I have never complained. Hi, When it comes to starting a business from home, it's crucial to have a space that's suitable for both living and running a business. If you're open to receiving a guest article from me, I'd love to put together a piece on successfully starting a business and moving at the same time if the space in your current home simply isn’t suitable for both living and working. The article will include tips for home buying, moving and what it takes to launch a home-based business. Current and past Presidents Comments on Nextdoor
Deniz B has called numerous neighbors names associating them with trump. That’s totally unacceptable. He then talks out the side of his mouth by condemning name calling while he was doing it himself. The past president Adele is lying suggesting that house values are negatively affected by the cross country track without providing any data to show that. Numerous residents that would have been impacted if the events were an issue have repeatedly said they aren’t an issue. This topic should not be brought to the public’s attention in this manner without supporting data. They both should remove themselves from the Corporation for their actions.

Error on your website
It looks like this link is broken on your site: https://www.bhcia.org/index.php/contact-us I thought you would like to know :). Silly mistakes can ruin your site's credibility. I've used a tool called linkSniff.com in the past to keep mistakes off of my website. -Kerri

membership renewal online
Hello, It would be helpful if someone can figure out how to add extra funds to the membership when paying by paypal. At this time, I think it especially makes sense to have that option. I'm not a techie person, but there's enough know how here for someone to be able to figure that out. I'm happy to donate additional funds to support BHCIA. Thank you for volunteering. Dina

Sidewalk/Curb repair policy
Does the BHCIA have a policy regarding sidewalk repair? My parents, Dwight and Evelyn Chee, have lived at 2848 Wemberly Drive since the neighborhood was built. I grew up there. They tell me they received a letter demanding they repair some uneven concrete at the corner of St. James and Wemberly, and that several residents have received similar notices. Is the BHCIA working with the affected residents to have the repairs done? Either by getting the City to do it all, or pooling the affected residents and perhaps retaining a contractor to do it all for a bulk price? Yours truly, Lyndon Chee 5108828875.

Duplicate membership
On January 29,I renewed our membership on-line. That same day I received the following from BHCIA: Your payment of $20.00 couldn't be processed. Item Name: Annual Membership Item price: $20.00 Unfortunately, the following payment to BHCIA didn't go through. This email was sent by BHCIA https://www.bhcia.org/ I redid the membership a few days later and submitted another $20. Now I see on my statement that I was charged both times. Please check your records and let me know if BHCIA received both $20 for JoAnn and Ron Berridge. If so, is it possible to credit one of the charges back to my credit card? Thank you, JoAnn Berridge

We have been BHCIA members for many years. The mailer soliciting new members was sent to our address. Is this also the annual renewal notice?
